I've been working with art in many different capacities for all of my life. Whether it's recording an electric piano or building a website, I'm driven to finding a creative solution. I have a passion for new ideas, but a conviction for practical applications.
I'm especially interested in designing rich experiences for my audience. I love to think about the layers beneath the surface that make something worth so much more than its face value.
Instructor at AGI, July 2007 - Present
After briefly freelancing at Aquent Graphics Institute I was hired as a full time instructor. At AGI I teach classes in Photoshop, Flash, HTML/CSS, Dreamweaver, and InDesign. I also do on-site and custom classes for AGI throughout the US. In September I contributed two chapters to Dynamic Learning Dreamweaver CS3 published by O'Reilly and developed by AGI.
Freelance Contractor at Neptune Web, April 2007
At neptune I helped edit and troubleshoot a number of high profile websites. Participating in Neptune's highly efficient site development process helped me reevaluate the way I manage projects.
Instructor at CDIABU, April 2007 - June 2007
In April of 2007 I began instructing classes at CDIABU. I created curriculum and exercises for the students and got the chance to pass on some tricks and secrets I had learned since attending the program. Classes taught: CSS, Dreamweaver.
TA at CDIABU, January 2007 - March 2007
After completing the Graphic and Interactive program at CDIA I was hired as a Teachers Assistant for the web section. Working behind the scenes in a program that I attended gave me a new perspective on education and the learning process in general.
Design and Development of maximlubarsky.com, February 2007
I was hired by Jazz and Classical pianist Maxim Lubarsky to construct his professional web site. The site needed to give fans a powerful impression of Maxim's creative energy while maintaining a strong sense of professionalism for potential booking opportunities. I took advantage of conventional navigation bar placement to construct a layout that referenced classic Blue Note album covers while maintaining strong useability. A javascript photo gallery and easy to update schedule help to ensure a rich experience for both the user and the client.
Practicum at CDIABU, December 2006
With a partner I developed the non-profit site consciousconsuming.org. We were faced with the challenge of organizing the vast amount of information and resources they provided in a meaningful and accessible way. We constructed a site that divided their content into easily accessible categories and focused on a system of linking to relevant events and features. This coupled with interactive forms, gives visitors a chance to get involved on every page.
Branding and Marketing Materials for Independent Documentary, August 2006
The director and producers of Waiting for Armageddon needed branding and marketing materials to promote their film at festivals and acquire distribution. I developed a branding solution that was appropriate to the unique personality of their film and applied it to a postcard, DVD jacket, business card, and one-page flyer.
Adamant Media, April 2004 - March 2006
I was the General Manager of this small digital printing business in Boston, MA. We printed facsimile editions of digitized public domain books and music scores. I was responsible for the management of daily workflow including printing, manufacturing, and shipping. I was also responsible for hiring and training new employees.
